I'd love to hear any info on this before making a purchase.

What is the average unit cost per phone for a 5 - 50 unit VOIP setup? I'm getting ready to contract out the installation of a VOIP phone system in our offices. Initially we need 10 units, but will need to expand up to 50 within the next 2 years. On average, what should I expect the initial install and future upgrades to cost? Ideally, I'd like to break this down to a per unit cost, which I know will be higher with fewer phones and lowers as the cost is deferred across more phones. Thanks

Is there a VOIP system I can use for incoming calls that has a sophisocated programmable IVR? I would like the caller to have several options, some that give further menu options, some options will play messages, and other options will connect the caller to a live operator. I can record the prompts myself. The calls should be answered on a VOIP phone. It must have an IVR to answer common questions automatically and be able to handle multiple simultaneous calls. Probably 3 callers at a time will suffice.

Small home office phone system? Hi my setup in the house so far is 2 telephone lines 1 for calls 1 for fax and a 4mb broadband , i will be starting my own buisness and was looking to get a phone system like big companies have "press 1 to sale press 2 to complain etc." i would like the ability to monitor my calls on the desktop and see what department the call is coming to and accept basicly a switch board on my computer im not too bothered about a desktop one this would cool although i would settle for a phone with flashing lites for diffrent departments , if possible ? ive also heard about VOIP phone systems using my internet would it be alot more reliable to use a phone line instead of internet , incase of brakedowns? Thanks for anyone that can help Gary.
When am I being Monitored? Cisco Phone System? When am I being monitored at work? We have a new phone system at work and I cannot figure out when I am being monitored. My phone says Cisco 7600 IP phone or something like that. I go to my task manager and I see the monitoring program running but it doesn't start to count, my monitor doesn't blink, I do not hear an echo, etc... Does anybody know how to tell if you are being monitored at work when your company is using a Cisco VOIP phone system? I do not care for the "you should just do your job stuff". If you know that answer I would appreciate it. If you just want to preach go take it somewhere else.

VOIP Phone services in INDIA? Hello All I'm looking for VOIP Telephone Service in India, something exactly like Vonage do. They just issue a phone set, phone number and VOIP adapter and thats it. I don't want a PC to be running like we have to using Skipe & Stanaphone. All I should require is a broadband connection at my home. I would just hook up my VOIP adapter to my broadband and the phone will work like any regular phone. The catch is, if I buy a VOIP system here and hook the same adapter in India then I'll have a US working number in India. Now anyone from US can call this number just like a local number. Now, I want reverse of this. A Indian phone number working in US over VOIP so anyone in India can call me on that number. If you know of any such system existing in India, please reply. Any information is highly appreciatred.
Which protocol is used when my VoIP system displays a "new voice mail" icon on my DECT phone? There must be some digital signaling between my VoIP access point (Linksys SPA2002) and my AT&T SL82408 DECT base station going over the station wires. I have the answering machine capability of the base station turned off and let my VoIP provider's voice mail system take messages. When a new message is saved on that system, the handsets display a "new voice mail" icon. I figure it must be a standard protocol since the Linksys and AT&T systems work together. I don't believe it is part of the DECT standard though, as that appears to only cover the over-the-air part of the interface (i.e. between the handsets and base station). Could be wrong about that though. Thanks!
How do you take a voice mail on a office phone and transfer to PC? The business I am working with has a standard phone system (not VOIP). We want to set up a phone so that customers can call in and record their testimonials. We then want to transfer those voice mails to the PC so we can edit the testimonials, make podcasts etc. My issue is, how to get the voice mail from the phone to the PC?
What is the quality of the phone calls to outside landlines? (Note: I am specifically asking regarding phonecalls originating from, and destined to, locations outside of North America) I am asking this as I have experienced problems with other internet based phone systems (VoIP), eg. Skype, et cetera. Problems experienced previously: (note: problems have been experienced on the listeners end of the phone call) Problems with the phone calls themselves: - "tinniness" of the voice. - extreme delays (always, to varying extremes) - interrupted phonecalls - premature disconnection - connection to the wrong landline! (the phone numbers have been correct). Problems with the services: - absolutely zero customer service provided for the solution of problems (Skype is an excellent example of this, but also other services). - monies paid in have not been credited to my account ballance (again Skype is an excellent example, but also other services). et cetera - I hope you get the idea of my enquiries. Regards
How can I attach a fax machine to a cordless phone system? I have a VOIP phone connection with a multi-unit cordless phone system (5.8 GHz). I have no phone jacks in any room. Now I need to connect a fax machine in a room far from where the modem and phone-base is located. Can I use a wireless phone jack to connect the fax (such as http://www.amazon.com/RCA-RC926-Wireless-Phone-Jack/dp/B00000J08Q)? Will that interfere with the cordless phone system or my wireless router (802.11n)? Or can I buy a new cordless phone system that allows me to plug in an external phone device on a remote unit?... I don't know if anyone makes something like this. Or any other ideas except for running a very long phone wire?
Should the alarm system be attached parallely or serially to the phone line? I got a new alarm system installed today. I am using VoIP (Vonage). The installer said that I should make sure always that the alarm system cable is attached serially to the system. In other words, he wants the phone line going into the alarm system first, and then to the actual phone box. That's all well and good, but he didn't know why I should do this. Now I am not stupid and don't want to go against what the installer said. However, when the system is connected parallely (phone line-> Alarm system->Phone) the calls have a delay when they are made back to back. For example, when I call my phone twice in a span of 10 seconds, the second call gets a fax tone (its not really a fax tone, but it sounds like it) instead of going to the voicemail. Now, if I wait longer than 10 seconds, everything is fine. But when I connect the phone parallely, everything is fine. OR, if I connect it serially the other w (line->phone->alarm) everything works fine. Do you know what is causing this?

Is there a way to get a phone system that's hosted elsewhere? Our CFO wants to find out if there's an option out there where we can get a business phone system (but NOT VoIP) that's hosted somewhere else -- similar to server hosting -- and just have our phones and plug them in and go. The only thing I can think of like this is VoIP, but we are in a 2 year contract with Verizon for our 6 current phone lines, and he doesn't want VoIP. Is there anything out there that does this, or does he want something that doesn't exist?

What are the advantages of VOIP over a normal home telephone system? I haven't got much of an idea what I'm looking at, I need to buy a new phone for the house but I've seen some which are compatible with VOIP but are expensive, is it worth the extra money. Any advice on the whole system would be great. I currently have a BT line and service and Sky TV with broadband package. Most phone usage will be evenings and weekend.
VoIP Networking? My company is setting up Fonalities VoIP phone system with PBXtra. We are going to create an IP Scope for the phones and hardwire their MAC addresses to these phones. My question is: Is there any way to make this scope provide boot image info using a DHCP config option in case we need to re-provision the phones? We also need to set up a Sub-domain for these IP Addresses and forward DNS to the PBXtra server for this sub-domain. Can anyone point me in the direction to creating a config file/boot image to auto-provision the phones? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
How Do turn my Voip into a multi line system? Hello, I Currently use RocketVoip for my VOIP, with the plan I get 4 numbers for 29.95 including a 800#. All the numbers are tied to the main # so if you dial the 800 # it goes to the main #, however if someone else dials the local # it goes directly to the voice mail. How can I set up my system to allow two calls at once? I have a home office where phone calls are our life, and to be able to make 2 calls at the same time would be great. Please help. Need Internet phone system with PBX features? I have a small buisness and over the years have a rigged up hone syetem that is surely costly and inefficient. Want to explore new options: One main line with a greeting message and ability to transfer to a maximum of five office lines. One fax. Need to transfer between lines. I have seen the VOIP lines and they look super. Does anyone have a suggestion for a flexible system that can be managed by a small business owner with moderate computer skills. Thank you!
Can I use IP phones on my internal network without VOIP service? I need a pbx style phone system in my business but I dont have the funds for a traditional system. I have a wired/wireless ethernet system already installed throughout my business and was wondering if there was a way to use IP phones through the network internally without an outside VOIP service provider?
landline phone through pc not using voip, but regular phone service? I am trying to find out if it is possible to connect a standard telephone with standard landline service to a pc and talk through a pc headset instead of the standard landline handset. The reason being: I am trying to find a way to answer the phone with my standard company greeting, instead of physically saying it each time I answer the phone. So if you know of another way of applying a standard telephone greeting, I would be interested in that also. I would also like to use the system to for making calls by announcing the company name and who I am when making phone calls, and then I can start speaking after the repetitive intro is complete. Thanks for your help.
What company makes the best phone systems? We are moving into a new building and I want to switch over to a newer phone system. We need 10 phones and 12 phone lines. 5 lines are old-style Land Lines and 7 lines are VoIP. Thank you.
VOIP system in a Phone2PC and PC2Phone environment? Hi, I'm designing a IM client that use Jabber to communicate with a Jabber server. It also has a Jingle communication tool that enables the users to talk with each other ( PC2PC calls ). Now I want to add PC2Phone and Phone2PC capabilities to my system. As for PC2Phone I think it only requres a contract with a VOIP provider and some code writing to enable that, but as for Phone2PC, I think I need some special hardwares. This means that for example when you call a phone number that is assigned to a user, his/her IM client will ring, so that he/she can pick it up and answers online! If he's away, teh caller will leave a message. This is like how Yahoo Voice workd ( voice.yahoo.com ). If anyone has such experience please share here and help me in this regard. Thanks :)
Is it possiable to host my own? is it possiable to host my own VOIP Phone System with autoattendant and PBX, on a server and have all the features? If so what company sells a complete package?
Is there a cordless home phone that can take a GSM sim card? I want to get rid of my AT&T landline. I am not looking for a VOIP solution. Appreciate your help on this.

Dial-up Internet on Analog or VOIP lines? Which makes a better(more stable/faster) Dial-Up connection? Using the good old analog telephone phone system or a VOIP/Digital Phone line? And why? I use a certain application online that for some odd reason very much prefers the use of dial-up over broadband.
What all does it take (software and hardware) to link phone systems? I want to link the phone systems of my two remote offices to the head office. They are all in different cities. So far through research I have discovered VOIP over a VPN how exactly does this get done? What software/hardware is needed? I am sure I could just call up a company to come do this for me, but it is not of great importance and I would like to keep the cost low. Do it my self.
Suggestions for an inexpensive business phone system? We currently lease a Nortel Norstar phone system, but would like to buy a system flat out so we can eliminate monthly payments and manage it ourselves (we currently get billed if we call just to ask a question, and we have to have them come in to add/remove mailboxes, etc.). We have 10 employees right now, but have 14 extensions currently open in the office (2 are empty desks, and 2 are common area rooms). We would need a good voice mail system that is remotely accessible, auto-attendant and automatic call distribution, music while on hold would be nice, and the ability to automatically forward calls to other extensions or outside numbers. We do not have VoIP or anything fancy like that -- we pay our phone company for 6 lines (one of which is a fax line). We only have one phone number public, which seems to automatically connect to any of the 5 lines depending on which is open. Can anyone recommend an affordable and easy to manage phone system?

Are different voip systems cross compatible? I would like to know if different voip systems are compatible with each other, specifically, Skype Tesco Internet Phone Sip Also would someone knowledgeable on the voip subject please post a concise explanation of all the different networks. Many thanks!
Internet phone? We currently have the typical phone systems, where someone calls in, and can transfer to this extension and that extension, and so forth. Leave messages here and there. Someone from a certain extension pages someone else on another phone extension. To call out, we'd press 9, and dial the phone number. However, the monthly phone bill is very high for a business customer. I'm talking about several thousand dollars per month. Will the "Internet phones" be a better solution? How do these phones work? So if I were to call someone oversea or out of state, I will have no phone bill at the end of the month? And what happens when someone calls me? How reliable are these phones? So if the T1 line is up 24/7, then, would these phones be as reliable as the T1 line? So when people talk about "Internet phones", are they referring to VoIP phones? If you know about these phones, please advise. Thanks.

How to use Cat5e for both phone and ethernet, in one line? I am just about to buy a house that is wired with one cat5e in each room, but no phone lines. Each cat5e uses an 8 lead line. My question is how do I connect a computer network up to this while at the same time using the cat5e for phone lines, bearing in mind I want to not use any special VOIP or wirless system.

Which voip provider would be best for this in the regards to service, support, and price as well as be able to have the functionallity that I described above?
How does Astreisk work? Hello, I need help setting up Asterisk in the following scenario: There are two phone lines with two different numbers, and 4 phone sets, each of them connected to both the lines. We want to set up a phone-system using Asterisk. (or a similar software solution). What equipments do we need? We will have to install the Asterisk software, so obviously we need a computer, which we have. However, it seems Asterisks doesn’t support Windows, where as our computers are Windows based. What should be done in this case? Let’s say we have been able to install the Asterisk software, by using a linux computer. Now that we have the computer with the needed software installed, what should be the next step? Currently we have regular land phone lines, and not voip lines. We do not intend to subscribe to any voip phone line either. Given the above scenario, what equipments/tools will we need to set up Asterisk for our regular phone lines, to facilitate a phone-system? Thanks! Just for clarification, when I say Asterisk, i meant the following software: http://www.asterisk.org/
How can I converge all my phone lines for easy access? I have a regular land line, 2 voip lines, and a cell phone. Is there some way I can make all of the available throughout the house? I can buy a new router, switch voip company's and/or buy new phones (except for the cell). I was thinking something like an office system, but definately focused at the home user. The landline is only used as a backup dialup connection and the occasional fax (send/receive), but I would like to have easy access to it in case of an emergency. The landline has no extra features. The 2 voip lines, and cell phone all have caller id, call waiting, voice mail and 3 way calling. I would like the ability to conferece between them, and direct a fax received on any of the lines (except the cell). I also have 3 pc's in the house that all run windows xp home, but only one of them's on all the time, if there's a virtual solution. If I'm asking too much, or it would cost a lot, what about something that comes close. Thanks! :)
How can I connect two T1 lines together for increased bandwidth? I am ordering 2 new T1 lines for my company, one with 16 analog VOIP lines, and the other with IP internet services only. My ISP tells me they can only connect the two lines together if I get a digital VOIP line, but our phone system isn't compatible with digital lines. My problem is that I am throwing away a lot of usable bandwidth on the VOIP T1 line that can be used to supplement our data T1 line. Is there any device on the market that will allow me to bridge these two connections? Thanks in Advance! A new PBX system (which I did look into) will cost us about $25,000. My bosses will not spend the extra 25k for a phone system just to get some bandwidth. The Idea behind going with VOIP was to save on the phone bills compared to a Telco line. If I were to say lets spend an extra 25k to get a new phone system to, then I would have no T1 line at all, and we would keep our slow 384k DSL service.
i want to set up a mini call center here in ther phils to call in canada.what system can i use, voip?how? my purpose here is to have at least 10 phone lines that could make a call at the same time. what system could i possibly set up and what company could provide me this kinda service with the cheapest possible cost.thank you!
